The idea

Keep the spine. Free everything around it.

A center hall colonial is a beautiful box with a weakness: a row of small, closed rooms. Here the hall stays the spine, but it opens east and west so the family lives across the whole depth of the house, with a clear sightline from the front door straight through to the garden.

Because every exterior wall, the roof and the footprint stay as they are, the project avoids the zoning and coverage questions an addition would raise. Interior structure still needs an engineer, and your town will still want permits.

What this sample is, and is not

The house, the layouts and the model are illustrative. A real Reimagine Tour starts with your actual listing or home, Marc’s call with you, and a plan drawn to fit its real structure. Cost ranges are planning estimates. Before any wall comes down a structural engineer must confirm what carries load, and your town must permit the work.
